So all of you are probably wondering how this whole project is gonna go down. So thats what I'm here for.
The Phoenix Wright musical project has worked out sort of well so far. So we're going to try something similar.
Since it's online it's not going to be live action. That editing would probably kill someone.
So for now, lets pretend it'll just be a radioplay. Artisits, if you're up for storyboarding two hours of musical goodness, we can do the entire show as an animatic. I know we dont have enough talented fllash artists to animate it. So for now, radioplay.
ALRIGHT FIRST THINGS SHOULDA BEEN FIRST Plot. Should we go with an original storyline, or stick with musical-izing the first game? I'm going to put up a poll so all of us can vote on the matter, then we can continue from there.
The one thing you CAN do right now is start coming up with songs.Write as many songs as you like, but trying to keepthis short, so we're going to eventually cut it down to 10 songs.
PLEASE POST ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS HERE <3

How will we fit puzzles in? XD
I'm up for a totally original storyline, but I'm just afraid that some scriptwriters (myself may be included) may end up sue-ing, botching and GAAAH-ing the lot. I'd actually prefer an original storyline, since unlike the PW story, Layton's one long thing which ends with a WHOOAAAA.

I'm thinking that if we can do more than one, then we should do an original as a second one. Since most of us are very "BUH?!" at how this is going to work, sticking pretty close to the original story line would be the best idea. Unless by doing a "mixture of Curious Village and Original", we just cut out most of the complicated running around bit and shorten it by adding in some stuff that will make sense?

Unless by doing a "mixture of Curious Village and Original", we just cut out most of the complicated running around bit and shorten it by adding in some stuff that will make sense? That's exactly what I'm going for. Looking around for Claudia is one of those things we can cut. I would really like to do some character development for Don Paolo, too (since we all know he ddesperately needs it.) Most likely through a song. Also, planniing with my friends, I realize that our opening song should be slightly reminiscent of "A Rumor in St. Petersburg" or whatever the real title is, from Anastasia. As for what songs to write, the only one we really have goingg so far is one of Layton explaining to Luke how/why to be a gentleman. XDD As for the puzzles, they'll HAVE to stay in there. But we won't heavily pound on them like they do in the game. We'll find some way to make it work. FORGOT TO MENTION: If you'd like an original storyline, post your ideas here as well! Also, adding third option as "Some sort of mixture between all three games"

I realize that our opening song should be slightly reminiscent of "A Rumor in St. Petersburg" or whatever the real title is, from Anastasia. BIG YES. I love that song. I love that movie. I want to go watch it now. Also, there needs to be a short song called "I haff tvelve matchsteek". He can start singing then be cut off, but it needs to be there D:

Relevant quote may be relevant.
Puzzles could be featured throughout the musical relatively easily, in the form of riddles and wordplay and such, but one song devoted to them could work easily - such as Layton and Luke gallivanting about town, while they are sprung with puzzle after puzzle. Maybe mix this with the "Rumor in St. Petersburg" type song, and it could be an "On The Way To The Manor" song, or something similar, if we're going the Curious Village route.
"Mr. Layton, Mr. Layton! I lost my water pitchers!"
"Mr. Layton, Mr. Layton! Fix my route to work!"
And so on and so forth.

... BLOOD. I love you for that. ;D
Great idea. And puzzles WILL go in, we just have to put them in carefully so it doesnt stop the story to a screeching halt. likeingthegamecoughcough
Also, maybe we should just start the story already in the villiage? :/ just a thought i had, since the laytonmobile scene is the exposition, and that'll mostly be told by the opening number.
I'm going to post my ideas for this opening number in the brainstorming section.

I'm going to have to do some serious research to help - I feel slightly out of my element here. XD BUT.
Starting in the village sounds like a good idea to me. I like the idea of sticking to the original game for now, a mix of the original and Curious Village. I've only ever played Curious Village - I don't know what the differences are.
Project suggestion - maybe some kind of resource thread for info about the games and their differences?

Project suggestion - maybe some kind of resource thread for info about the games and their differences? It's not really a difference, per se... just backstory. Like why Don wanted "revenge". That'll probably have to be mentioned somewhere in the musical (probably in the villian song). There's Luke backstory in the newest fourth game that hasn't been released yet... so its all fan speculation for now. Now the question is: what liberties are we going to take with this original storyline? What do we need to add/what do we need to take out? Thread going up for that in Brainstorming.
